Care of your Rabbit Hutch

Inside your hutch

All rabbit Hutches should be kept as clean and dry as possible on the inside at all times, This is for your animals health and also for the life of your hutch. We recommend shavings on the floor to absorb any moisture. Also litter trays are very popular for rabbit and do help keep things nice and clean. Bedding such as hay, straw and paper is also good to help keep them warm and cosy!
The in side of the hutch is not treated, but we do recommend this to be done with an animal friendly wood treatment, some thing like Good for Wood

Felt on Roof

Please take special care with the felt on your rabbit hutch, Do not place objects on top of your hutch as this may cause damage to the felt, This can easily accrue especially in warm weather.

Exterior of Hutch

We send out all rabbit hutches treated in a professional animal friendly base coat clear wood preservative, This is only a base coat and will last up to three months after purchase, We strongly recommend that you treat your rabbit hutch with a top coat wood preservative or a varnish as soon as you can, This will help prolong the life of your rabbit hutch, Also like any wood product exposed to the elements this will need retreating in the future. The top coat can be any colour of your choice but please pick an animal friendly one.

If you have a problem with treating your hutch we can add the top coat before you have it delivered, There will be a standard charge of £15.00 per hutch for this service. The top coat we use is called Good for Wood and comes in a clear colour with a very slight wax finish to it, (please phone or email if you require the top coat when ordering).

Good for Wood can be used as a sole application or as a finish over wood stains or emulsion.
